Bendrigg Trust roll-out new signage and visual guides to aid disabled communities.
BACKGROUND
Bendrigg is a registered charity and for over 40 years it has provided adventure residential courses for over 87,000 disabled and disadvantaged people throughout the UK.
Based near Kendal in the Lake District, it is a charity close to Amphigean’s heart, being focussed on education and the inclusion of a significantly disadvantaged section of our community.
The team at Amphigean often support the amazing staff at Bendrigg with team days to decorate, help with the gardening or whatever else they might need. This project was different.
CHALLENGE
Bendrigg needed to transform hand-drawn iconic characters used to guide residents, into digital versions to broaden the utilisation and fit new guidance to cater for a wide-range of disabilities.
Struggling with copies of copies of hand-drawn images with no opportunity to use them effectively in the digital world
Unable to share digital resources online for use by anyone to help support the recognition of activities and tasks
Lack of in-house capability to digitise resources and design new ones
Missed opportunities to utilise Bendrigg favourites in marketing and fundraising activities as well as on-site signage
SOLUTION
Amphigean called upon its creative and design talent to transform and give longevity to the old Bendrigg favourite – Bendifolk.
OUTCOMES
A superb digital resource, with a wide range of uses and in different formats, which will provide longevity of the ‘Bendifolk’ characters for years to come.
Bendifolk now used on signage outside each Bendrigg building to help guide residents to the correct activity
Used as a cornerstone in communications and marketing to build recognition and brand familiarity
Used in activity programmes and course reviews so that residents can comment on their favourite activities
Downloaded by residents to their device to show others at home what they have been doing while at Bendrigg
Available for use by anyone needing visual techniques to build recognition of core activities
Bendifolk resources promoted for download by the international community on the Bendrigg website
