Amphigean stands out at Learning Technologies 2020

Amphigean’s attendance at the recent Learning Technologies 2020 exhibition was another resounding success. The event at the ExCel centre brought together more than 8,500 learning and development professionals to showcase organisational learning and the technology used to support it at the workplace.

We were thrilled by the positive reception to the Agile Video Production with PowerPoint seminar given by our Creative Director Bryan Strange in Theatre 6. Despite seating only being provided for 60, there were around 180 in attendance! This generated a large footfall onto our stand afterwards, and we were more than happy to explain the powerful capability within PowerPoint to create engaging learning materials and videos.

As a result, registrations for our follow-on webinar on the same topic increased significantly, demonstrating that we’ve touched on an area that could transform the capability of many businesses. We were even busier at the exhibition than last year, meeting existing customers and a wide range of potential new customers. These new contacts operate across a variety of industry sectors including Pharmaceuticals, Automotive, Telecoms, Education, Hospitality, Property Management and more.

The themes and topics which seemed to stand out at the exhibition included:

– Data analysis collected by Learning Experience Platforms to bolster reporting on the Return on Investment (ROI) of L&D spend

– Enhancements to Learning Experience Platforms to incorporate role pathways and the developmental work required to get there

– A growing number of platforms offering enhanced capability to manage online (virtual) classroom sessions. A recognition of the value of classroom-based training for transferring skills and knowledge, whilst also embracing the move to digitisation

– VR and AR: although we thought there was less emphasis on this than in previous years, it was nevertheless being promoted for safety, practical and soft skills training by corporates. There are also signs that some corporates are setting up VR training rooms to complement the mix of available training options.

As ever, there was a focus on evolving learning techniques, the importance of micro learning, and the continued prevalence of short animated videos in training programmes.

“This is our second time at the show, which continues to expand into larger halls at the Excel. We were certainly busier than last year and had interesting and exciting discussions with potential customers, as well as meeting up with our key customer contacts who joined us on the stand. It’s a great opportunity to meet and network with others in the industry, and gives an opportunity to reflect and ensure we’re delivering against best-practice and beyond for our customers.”
